Design Inspiration

The inspiration for Malia’s designs often comes from Cambodia itself. Whether traveling through the Angkor temples or the streets of Phnom Penh; color, texture and culture abound.  Our team of designers is made up of Cambodian and US-based designers, and together we bring a unique blend of Eastern and Western design philosophies to our collections.

Our Sustainable Design Philosophy

What does it mean for a fashion brand to be sustainable? This is one of those questions that definitely has more than one answer. Sustainability has been part of our DNA since the very beginning, and we are proud to work with  many eco-friendly and recycled materials. The slides to the right provide more details about these materials and how they are sourced.

Recycled Feedbag Collection

Originally used to house a grain that is fed to farmed fish in Southeast Asia, this colorful, lightweight, durable and water-resistant material is recycled into fun, fashion forward handbags great for everyday use.

Upcycled Cotton Canvas Collection

Our hand screen-printed cotton canvas collection changes seasonally. The base fabric of these bags and wallets is sourced from small vendors who sell the leftover rolls of fabric from the garment factories in Cambodia.

Recycled Cement Bag Collection

Upcycled from used cement bags that are extremely strong and lightweight, the bold and funky designs have made this one of our most popular lines for both women and men.

Handwoven Silks & Cottons

Locally produced, the rich hues and texture of Southeast Asian silk provide the framework for beautifully crafted bags that are perfect for a special occasion or an evening on the town. These handwoven fabrics help to preserve traditional art forms.
